OAKDALE COMMUNITY CHOIR

The Oakdale Community Choir comprises men incarcerated at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center and women and men from outside the prison.

BLACK IN BUSINESS SERIES

The Center for Diversity and Enrichment and the Tippie College of Business created the Black in Business series, in collaboration with the Division of Student Life's Being Black@Iowa Project, to expand the dialogue in the Black community around issues of higher education, business, and entrepreneurship.

ONE COMMUNITY, ONE BOOK 

Begun in 2001, the UI Center for Human Rights's One Community, One Book reading program invites community members to read and come together to discuss the same book with human rights or social justice themes. These discussion forums typically take place from September through November each year and a capstone event will be held during that time.

SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP (SCP) PROGRAM

The Center for Diversity and Enrichment coordinates outreach efforts to underserved K-12 students from diverse backgrounds, including students of color, first-generation students whose parents have not received a baccalaureate degree, and students from low-income families.

EL BRIDGE

EL Bridge is an initiative by the University of Iowa to improve the quality of education for K-12 ELL students in Iowa’s schools through the integration of ESL best practices in teacher training coursework across subject areas in the UI College of Education. Project staff focus special attention on the STEM fields and special education.
