The University of Iowa is fortunate to have a robust community of engaged scholars, instructors, and practitioners who integrate community partnerships into their research and teaching. We know how valuable it is to have dedicated space for this community to gather, share ideas, and connect across units. The Community Engagement Network (CEN) serves as that space—a collaborative network that connects and supports UI scholars and practitioners leading community-engaged work. The network is broad and inclusive, spanning every college on campus and fostering meaningful connections across disciplines.
Community Engagement Network (CEN)
The CEN Experience
The Community Engagement Network brings together UI scholars and practitioners
Through sharing and learning about our collective engagement models, current partnerships, and best practices, we aim to:
• Build a strong, supportive community among community-engaged scholars and practitioners across campus
• Spark new connections and interdisciplinary collaborations
• Strengthen impact for faculty, students, and community partners
• Align our work with the UI Strategic Plan and broader institutional goals
The Community Engagement Network brings together UI scholars and practitioners who engage in community partnerships as part of their work, as well as those who help create the conditions that make community engagement possible.
This network is designed for individuals who facilitate community collaborations; faculty and staff involved in community-engaged teaching, research, or creative work; and others who have community engagement woven into their roles. Members are often the “go-to” people for community partners seeking meaningful connections with departments and units across campus.
