Elly Hofmaier (BS19) and Haley Peterson (BA20) began working in the Office of Community Engagement as marketing interns in August 2018.

Elly (left) brings energy and creativity to our social media accounts, analyzing posts to inform strategy and helping to increase our social media engagement. She writes website content including profiles and has a strong visual eye that has helped form the look of many of our web pages. Elly's feel for storytelling has led her to capture candid photos that not only depict the work being done by faculty, students, and staff, but also show human interactions and connections. Elly enjoys taking on new challenges and has been developing her video and graphic design skills over the past year to assist in a variety of projects.

"Being on the Office of Community Engagement team has been one of the most rewarding work experiences of my life. I've been able to grow as a professional while playing a small role in the positive impact this office has been having across the state. Being a Hawkeye means so much more to me after the work I've done with this office!"

Haley (right) uses her graphic design skills and artistic talents to develop a strong visual brand presence for the office. Her professionalism, visual communication skills, and creativity have helped us increase the quality of our print marketing pieces, graphic treatments, t-shirts, invitations, posters, etc., and helped guide the look of the Office Community Engagement video, which tells the story about our office and the student projects we coordinate. Haley takes photos and videos for the office and is taking on writing challenges to further develop her marketing and communication skills.
